Transguard employees’ fire heroics rewarded at annual staff carnival

Five Transguard Group security guards working for a hotel in Dubai, have been recognised at the annual Transguard carnival for their bravery when tackling a fire that broke out in the building. Five Transguard Group security guards working for a hotel in Dubai, have been recognised at the annual Transguard carnival for their bravery when tackling a fire that broke out in the building. Thanks to the teamwork and the quick thinking of the five men, the hotel was quickly evacuated, and the fire was prevented from spreading. The whole area was then cordoned off until the Dubai Civil Defence arrived. Each man, Salah Uddin, Jowel Rana Morshed Miah and Litton Chandra Mondel from Bangladesh and Uday Bahadur Gurung and Amrit Pandey from Nepal received a cash bonus, an extra return flight home plane ticket home, seven days’ extra holiday pay and a trophy to celebrate the occasion.“Thanks to our extensive training in fire safety the team are well versed in what to do when in this kind of emergency. The safety of hotel patrons is paramount. We are all extremely proud to have played a part in securing the safety of everyone and this just reinforces the need for robust first response fire safety training which Transguard provides to all its staff” said Steven Beesley, Chief Operating Officer. The runner-up award for ‘Star of the Year’ was given to Sandesh Glen, a cleaner from Nepal, who found AED162k in cash during his shift. Sandesh immediately alerted his supervisor, ensuring the money was returned to its rightful owner. Sandesh received a cash bonus and a trophy for his honesty.“I am proud that we have such brave and honest staff, it really does set a fine example to all at Transguard,” said Greg Ward, Managing Director, Transguard.“The carnival is a celebration of the whole Transguard team who consistently perform well beyond the call of duty,” he added.Thousands of staff enjoyed a packed day of fun and sport during the annual party, which is organised in recognition of the hard work by employees gone into making 2017/18 another successful year for the company. Transguard employees had the opportunity to enjoy giant inflatable rides, a mechanical rodeo bull and a range of carnival style stalls. All staff enjoyed lunch and were entertained by a DJ, Bollywood dancers, an African drum show as well Transguard’s staff showing off their very own musical and silky dance on stage.
