Water Saving

Water scarcity already affects every continent.

Around 1.2 billion people, or almost one-fifth of the world's population live in areas of physical water scarcity. Another 1.6 billion people, or almost one quarter of the world's population, face economic water shortage. There is enough freshwater on the planet for six billion people, but it is distributed unevenly and too much of it is wasted, polluted and unsustainably managed.

Between April 2021 and December 2021, Transguard Group:

- Recycled 19 million gallons of grey water, which was reused for our flushing system

- Saved 25 million gallons of water across Transguard’s entire property portfolio

Think green

Recycling

Recycling is an important way for individuals and businesses to reduce the waste they generate.

Recycling conserves our natural resources, saves landfill space, conserves energy, and reduces water pollution, air pollution and the greenhouse gas emissions that cause global warming.

Reducing, Reusing and Recycling make up a comprehensive waste and resource reduction strategy that benefits our natural world and our economy. Recycling is an important way for individuals and businesses to reduce the waste we generate.

Transguard’s Green Recycling Initiatives

  • More than 50 cartridges environmentally disposed

Energy Saving

The energy we use to heat, light and power our offices and homes and power our transport contributes significantly to climate change.

What we do as individuals can make a real impact on the UAE greenhouse gas emissions, as a significant proportion come from our everyday activities: if everyone takes steps to save energy, the combined effect will make a real difference.

Transguard Energy Saving Initiatives

Free Low Energy Bulbs! Traditional bulbs provide us with light but waste a lot of energy. Using compact fluorescent lights (CFL) and light emitting diode lamps (LED) can significantly cut energy consumption and carbon footprint. Through our membership of Heroes of the UAE, we offer every member of staff a free low energy bulb.

Between April 2021 and December 2021, Transguard Group:

- Saved 3 million kWh across Transguard’s entire property portfolio as well as 3.8 million kWh across our clients’ portfolios. Together, this equals the greenhouse gas emissions avoided by 205,048 trash bags of waste being recycled instead of being added to a landfill

- Produced 1,292 MWh of clean energy through a dedicated solar power project; aligned with the Dubai Shams Initiative, the project has so far saved nearly 1000 tons of CO2

Think green

Carbon Footprint

Carbon footprint is a measure of the amount of Carbon Dioxide we produce per year.

CO2 is the principle greenhouse gas and it has a significant impact on the environment, and in particular on global warming. It relates to the amount of greenhouse gases produced in our day-to-day lives. Our target is to reduce it by 10% per year.

Transguard Carbon Footprint Initiatives

As part of our corporate membership of “Heroes of the UAE” we have committed to:

  • Develop and implement a measurable strategy to reduce carbon dioxide emissions associated with energy and water consumption by 10% each year
  • Develop and implement a long-term strategy for Transguard for year-on-year carbon footprint reduction
  • Allow independent auditors access to the environmental audits and review our activities
